Alpha Xi Delta’s Philanthropic Focus

The Kindly Hearts Initiative

The Kindly Hearts Initiative serves as the umbrella to our national philanthropic focus of supporting children and teens experiencing foster care or homelessness. Alpha Xi Deltas across the country support two Key Impact Organizations, FosterClub and StandUp for Kids, making a national and regional difference under the umbrella of our focus.

Letters of Love

All Alpha Xi Delta chapters and alumnae associations participate in Letters of Love, Alpha Xi Delta’s national letter writing fundraising campaign. Held annually during the month of November this campaign benefits Alpha Xi Delta’s two Key Impact Organizations, StandUp for Kids and FosterClub.

Theta Omegas Impact

Alpha Xi Delta is excited to share our long-term philanthropy, the focus will be supporting children and teens experiencing foster care or homelessness through the Kindly Hearts Initiative.

This name will serve as the umbrella for our philanthropic focus on supporting children and teens experiencing foster care or homelessness. As a chapter, we are given the opportunity to support key impact organizations making a national or regional difference under the umbrella of our focus as well as the option to collaborate with local impact organizations.

At any given time, there are between 2,000 and 2,600 children in foster care in New Mexico. In Dona Ana County alone there are approximately 200 children in foster care. As of school year 2021-2022 in New Mexico there are approximately 9,835 homeless children/youth enrolled in public schools. Out of those 9 thousand children and youth, 68% of them are living with another family and 7% of them are unsheltered as their primary nighttime residence. Alpha Xi Delta is dedicated to aiding organizations that provide access to these needs and support resources in our local communities and across the country.

Our chapter loves serving the community as well as participating in events put forth by other Greek-letter organizations. From Service for Sight to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, realizing our potential through philanthropic efforts is one of the most rewarding experiences our sisters can have. We have enjoyed supporting and donating this past year to help support fellow Greeks and their philanthropies.

Additional Philanthropic Events

The Theta Omega chapter of Alpha Xi Delta engages in a variety of activities to raise money and awareness for the Kindly Hearts Initiative. Our members work together to put on a “push week” we like to call “Xi Week”. This is a week-long event that aims to raise the most money possible for our philanthropy. Greek organizations on campus participate in our events which include, penny wars, pageant competitions, game night competitions, athletic events, and more! Although this is our big event for the school semester, we aim to serve the community throughout the year. We are proud to support our local community by doing clothing/toy drives, cleaning up our highway, and being involved with campus community service events. The Kindly Hearts Initiative is more than a philanthropy we support, it is the heart and soul of this chapter.

A letter from our Philanthropy Vice President

“Alpha Xi Delta is so proud to support the Kindly Hearts Initiative. Unfortunately the rate of children and teenagers who experience homelessness is too high. As a chapter, we hope to raise enough money to bring this number down. With Xi Week, fundraisers, and events that we hold throughout the year, we aim to bring more awareness to the cause. We want to help enrich the lives of others as well as make tangible and positive contributions to the community. We hold service and philanthropy close to our hearts as giving back to our community both locally and nationally embodies a key component of being an Alpha Xi”
