Most Asked Questions

What is formal recruitment?

Formal recruitment is a structured process college women participate in when interested in joining a Greek organization. Here at New Mexico State University, the recruitment process consists of 4 days of recruitment rounds including sisterhood round, philanthropy round, and preference round. The fourth day will be Bid Day, this is a day when the Theta Omega chapter celebrates all of their new members and we welcome them into our sisterhood! During the recruitment rounds, one can expect to conversate with all five Panhellenic chapters, this is your time for you to share who you are. We are beyond excited to get to know you during this process.

What do I wear for recruitment?

Each round of guidelines can be found below, we encourage you to take the time to show your personal style and personality. Have fun with your outfits and always remember to be you!

Sisterhood Round: casual style; jeans, shorts, skirts, paired with a nice top or shirt.

Philanthropy Round: not quite formal wear but still nice; sun dresses, skirts with a nicer top, pants with a nice button up/polo.

Preference Round: formal wear; nice dress, khakis paired with a nice button-up.

Bid Day: any plain bottoms that will pair well with any style/color of top; jeans, shorts, skirts.

Do you have any tips for formal recruitment?

Here are a few tips from our Membership Vice President!

“Formal recruitment can be overwhelming as you meet all the sororities and learn more about Greek life. Keeping an open mind throughout the process can help make recruitment easier. Be yourself and don’t let this process discourage you! Alpha Xi Delta is so excited to meet you all during formal recruitment!”
